There are SO many great family photo locations in and around Boston, and these are a few of my favorites. We’re so lucky, in Boston, to have such great variety of environments – rolling fields, the Atlantic ocean, parks, great urban architecture, charming small town centers, and more! Firstly, I hope this guide inspires you to think about our many options, and encourages you to be creative. Let’s choose a location for your session that reflects you, your family, your favorite places to enjoy! I’m more than happy to talk it through together. Just click here.
Boston Public Garden, Boston MA
The Public Garden is a fantastic family photo location, because it has beautiful greenery, elegant trees, and an iconic bridge crossing the pond in the center. This is a most proper park surrounded by beautiful Boston city streets. I love the variety of shots we can get with great views of the city, since it is situated between the Back Bay and Beacon Hill. Above all, kids love to run around here, play hide-and-seek behind the handsome old trees, and watch the ducks swimming in the pond. It’s just gorgeous!

Wingaersheek Beach, Gloucester, MA
This is one of my favorite beaches, definitely worth the trip. For instance, I LOVE the rock formations, which give us lots of beautiful spots to stand on, and to explore. And the sunsets are magnificent. This is truly a special beach, and my family and I have loved it for years. Restrooms and showers are available in season. And there is a long sandbar exposed, at low tide. This is great for kids and photos.

Wellesley College Campus, Wellesley, MA
This beautiful campus is such a special family photo location. The 500 acre campus in suburban Wellesley has such a variety of settings – for instance, a big, lovely lake, woodsy paths, wide open fields, lawns of green grass, a smaller pond with lily pads, and a beautiful botanical garden and greenhouse, so the options on this campus are amazing. It is breathtaking in every season.
Outside Area, Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, MA
The ICA, as it’s called, is on the Boston waterfront in the cool and exciting Seaport district. The outdoor area around the museum is amazing for photos! The wide open expanses of decking and waterfront views in the distance offer a variety of cool family photo locations. The ICA is a great choice if you’re looking for an outside spot, a distinctly Boston city waterfront. And there’s lots of space for kids to safely run around and have fun. We can get lots of dramatic shots for those who love the city, wind and water! Public transportation is accessible.
